An Introduction of Zhonghuang中皇
"Mid-jade-emperor" (中皇 Zhonghuang) was the new title of Guandi, which showed that he was about to become the successor of the Jade Emperor in the future. According to the preface of this text, the new title originated from the spirit-writing movement in the Gengzi year庚子年 (1840). Worried about the apocalypse, a spirit-writing group in the Longnü Temple龍女寺 received the oracle from Guandi in 1840, which announced his promotion and ordered people to exhorted the world by moral advocacy. “Wenshe”文社 was a kind of cross-regional religious group that worshipped Mid-jade-emperor in Jiangxi and Hunan Province.
