Foxue cuoyao 佛學撮要 (Essentials of Buddhist Studies) is a short monograph compiled by Ding Fubao 丁福保 that includes outlines of Buddhist doctrines as well as stories from history that provide evidence in support of the truth of Buddhist beliefs. It is the first book in the Buddhist Studies Series 佛學叢書 (醫學書局) published in Shanghai by the Medical Studies Press 醫學書局.

Presumably Shanghai. The bottom of the 版心 reads 無錫丁氏藏版, but since this was printed using movable type, I interpret this to mean that Ding maintains copyright over the text, although he invited readers to make their own editions. Ding's Medical Studies Press 醫學書局 was located in Shanghai.

- According to catalogues, there were two editions of the title, a large format 大本 and a small format 小本, both printed with fine quality Lianshi paper 連史紙
- It is listed in the ca. 1919 series list in 佛學起信編 - DCCB2346 as having 大本 for 0.24 and 小本 for 0.12, with postage fee of 0.09 for each
- It is listed in the 1934 醫學書局 catalogue in two editions: 大本 for 0.24 and 小本 for 0.12
- It is listed in the 1938 北京佛學書局 catalogue in two editions: 大字 for 0.24 and 小字 for 0.12; in this listing Mei Guangxi 梅光羲 is listed as having 節錄 the book, so this may be the same content as the edited reprint of 1941, see 佛學撮要 - DCCB1316
- At least two printings of the first edition may exist:
- The copy reproduced in the 1970 reprint has a different colophon from that of the Google Books scan, and may be the first printing
- The copy scanned by Google and originally part of the University of Michigan Library was the second printing of 2000 copies, funded by the Nanyang Brothers Tobacco Company. Stereotypes of the book were held at the Zhongxin Publisher 中新書局 in Shanghai if readers wanted to make reprints of their own.
