There are two brothers called Pan Wengui 潘文貴 and Pan Wenda 潘文達. They are very poor after the death of their parents. So Wengui goes to his aunt's house to ask for help. No surprise, he is thrown out. With nowhere to go, he ends up in a nunnery, where he meets an enemy of his father. The enemy puts Wengui in prison. At the same time, Wenda passes the imperial examination and saves his brother. This story is set during the reign of Tangtaizong 唐太宗 (r.626-649).
