A man called Liu Zhiyuan 劉智遠 is very poor. However, an old man named Li Wenkui 李文奎 believes that he will become someone in the future and marries his daughter to Liu. Li's son doesn't approve of the marriage and he and his wife always mistreat Liu. Liu leaves home to join the army, his wife stays at home and becomes pregnant. Eventually, Liu is reunited with his wife and he becomes an Emperor.
