A concubine of Emperor Wendi of the Han Dynasty (Hanwendi 漢文帝 r. 180-157 BC) can perform magic. One day, Wendi receives two precious cups as a tribute and sends them to the queen. The concubine is so jealous that she plots to kill the queen. The queen, who is pregnant, is saved by a minister called Pan Ge 潘葛, who replaces her with one of his own concubines. The queen gives birth to a prince who is protected by the goddess Jiutian xuannü 九天玄女. Eventually Wendi learns the truth and passess the throne to the prince. The concubine is punished.
