It is the story of a man called Chen Zichun 陳子春, who married three daughters of the Dragon King and had three sons. The names of the three songs are Shangyuan 上元, Zhongyuan 中元 and Xiayuan 下元. Together, they were called the thee Yuan (sanyuan 三元). Chen, his wives and sons together defeated demons and eventually became immortal. | |||
