A maid called Xinghua 杏花 is very devout in Buddhism. She collects a lot of rice in three years and asks a servant to take it to replace a statue of Guanyin 觀音. However, the servant only replaces the rice with some meat and brings back the cloth-covered bones, deceiving her that it is the statue. Xinghua worships the fake statue every day. Her master doesn't like this and beats her almost to death. Just then, she is saved by Guanyin and invited to heaven.
