A man named Li Wenxiang 李文祥 is falsely accused of stealing two jade swallows. To save him, his fiancée disguises herself as a man and takes the Imperial Examination. Afterwards, she acts as a censor and clears her fiancé. Eventually, Li also passes the examination and they are married. The story is set during the reign of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming (r.1521-1567).

- The story in 新出繪圖雙玉燕寳卷 - WUL104 is the same as in this edition, but the wording is different. The time periods of the two are also different. In this edition, the story is set during the reign of Emperor Jiajing 嘉靖 of the Ming (r.1521-1567).while in 新出繪圖雙玉燕寳卷 - WUL104, it is set during the reign of Renzong Emperor of the Song (Songzhenzong 宋仁宗 r.1022-1063).
