Bony Schachter is a scholar of ritual. He studied Sanskrit and Tibetan under Liu Zhen 劉震 (Fudan University) and Daoist Studies under Lai Chi Tim 黎志添 (The Chinese University of Hong Kong). Schachter is finishing a book manuscript on Zhu Quan's significance for ritual theory. Another project is a complete translation of the Scripture of the Jade Sovereign (Yuhuang jing 玉皇經), which will investigate this important Daoist text from a comparative perspective and with reference to Chinese, Sanskrit, and Tibetan sources. Schachter is currently Assistant Professor at the Yuelu Academy (Hunan University).
