Hanxuan zi 含玄子 is a sixteen-fascicle (juan) collection of essays by the literatus Zhao Shusheng 趙樞生, on religious thought and nourishing life, following the format of the Zhuangzi 莊子.

Zhao Shusheng 趙樞生 (1533-1593), who called himself Hanyuanzi 含玄子, was a descendant of the imperial family of the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and his son was Zhao Huanguang 赵宦光 (1559-1625), a famous literary scholar and calligrapher.
This book will help us to understand the religious thought and life of the literati in the late Ming Dynasty.
Only the first twelve fascicles (juan) are mentioned in the 四庫全書總目提要, and the last four fascicles discuss history and literary theory.
The summary in 四庫全書總目提要：
明趙樞生撰。樞生字彥材，太倉人。是書仿《莊子》體例，自一卷至八卷為內篇，九卷、十卷為外篇，十一卷、十二卷為餘篇。其內篇大旨，皆言習靜養生，修仙修佛之說。謂心中真靈種子，毫末不許外佚，則吾身之氣與天地之氣淡漠而合一。前後立言，皆本此意。然衍為八卷，不免有繁冗重復之弊。外篇多言歷代帝王之事，間及於飲食植物之類，則隨筆雜記也。餘篇意主發明五經，而究多剿襲，亦時傷穿鑿。如論《易》之諸卦，聖王純乾也，佛純坤也，仙復也，水仙?後也，僧剝也。道士?也，於義亦難通矣。
