This is a polemic text created by Furen Renyou 輔仁仁友 (1862–1929), the abbot of Gulin Monastery 古林寺 in Nanjing 南京 around 1905. Furen Renyou joins the disputes between the lineages of the Vinaya tradition, as he himself belongs to the Gulin lineage of it 律宗古林派. In this text, he emphasizes that it was Guxin Ruxin 古心如馨 (1541–1616), abbot of Gulin Monastery 古林寺, who revived the Vinaya tradition during the late Ming. Thus, Gulin Monastery should be regarded as the original seat of all the existing Vinaya lineages. Furen Renyou also directs the spearhead of his criticism at the abbots of Baohua Mountain 寶華山 (a major Vinaya centre since the second half of the seventeenth century) for obscuring the importance of Gulin Monastery in the history of the Vinaya tradition in their eighteenth century texts, such as Nanshan zongtong 南山宗統 and Baohua shanzhi 寶華山志.

The front cover, pictured right, gives the title as 律門祖庭彙誌. The same title appears on the center of each page（版心). However, two versions of a longer title are used in the name of the table of contents (金陵马鞍山古林律寺祖庭彙誌目錄) and the opening remarks (中興戒律第一祖庭匯志例言).

註疏 Commentary
The ctext.org identifies the year of publication of as 1904. However, the two prefaces contained herein are both dated 1905. Therefore, the edition cannot be dated as of 1904. This website indicates that the digitalized text comes from the Harvard-Yenching library 哈佛燕京圖書館. The front cover bears the number 1875/5221 and a stamp “Chinese-Japanese … Harvard-Yenching … Harvard University”. The first page with text (p. 5) has the stamp 哈佛大學漢和圖書館藏印.
In 2011, 律門祖庭彙誌 was published in text format with simplified characters together with three other works [1]. It the preface to this edition (pp. 2-4), Lin Ziqing 林子青 indicates that it is based on 1927. He points out that the text was printed numerous times and in various versions between Guangxu 光緒 (1875-1908) and Republican period, with the number of copies amounting to ten thousand. As compared to the edition described here, the 2011 edition contains one more preface as well as a postface.
The preface on p. 47, undated, is by 徐州佛教會會長汪經緯真如, whereas the postgace, on p. 71, was written in the winter of dingmao year 丁卯冬月 (the winter of this year corresponds to 25.10.1927-22.01.1928) by Pan Zongding of Jiangning 江宁潘宗鼎 in 凤台山馆. In the postface, Pan Zongjing reports the circumstances of its compilation. In the autumn of the preceding bingyin year 丙寅之秋 (07.10.1926-03.01.1927) he was compiling the Gazetteer of Gulin Monastery 修志古林 and resided in monks’ quarters. During his stay, Furen Renyu showed him his 律门祖庭汇志. Pan Zongding borrowed two sections (律宗譜系暨宗派三則) from it to be included into the 世系类 section of the gazetteer, adding that “since it was being prepared for new carving of woodblocks, the style was polished” (茲因重梓，囑加潤色).
