註疏 Commentary
Mount Xiaoyao 逍遙山, also known as the West Hills 西山, is west of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province 江西省南昌市. There the Wanshou Temple 萬壽宮 is located, also known as Yulong Wanshou gong 玉隆萬壽宮 (different from the Tiezhu Wanshou gong 鐵柱萬壽宮, another Xu Xun temple in downtown Nanchang), is devoted to the cult of Xu Xun 許遜 (239-374), Xu Zhenjun 許真君, the founder of Jingming Zhongxiao dao 淨明忠孝道. This text is one of the most important sources for the study of the history of Jingming dao, recording the historical changes of the temple, the legend of Xu Xun and the lineage of the Daoist order.
[Vincent G] all reprints of this gazetteers in various collections are of the 1878 edition, with small differences. There exists an earlier Qianlong edition of this getteer, held at the Shanghai library, but it has not (yet) been reprinted; it is discussed in Wang, Lineages Embedded in Temple Networks.
