This is an incomplete version with only the first volume (Shangjuan 上卷). A woman called Li Baoping 李寳瓶 is pious. She regularly fasts for Zhunti (zhunti zhai 準提齋). But one month she forgets the date of the fast and is very sorry. Meanwhile, five ghost emissaries come to the world to look for people who are dying, and Li knocks on them. As a result, Li falls ill. The five emissaries accidentally take her spirit and Li dies. She is taken to the netherworld and tells the truth to the king of the netherworld. The first volume ends here.
