This book is divided into four fascicles (冊). It is a sentence-by-sentence commentary on the scripture Taishang ganyingpian太上感應篇.

According to the first page of the “Ganyingpian lingyanji” 感應篇靈驗記, in the first fascicle (第一冊) Kongtong Tixuanzi 空同體玄子 reprinted (重刊) this text. According to the first page of the main text in the first fascicle (第一冊), Li Changling 李昌齡 and Zheng Qingzhi 鄭清之 were the editors. Li Changling 李昌齡 gave sentence-by-sentence explanations of the scriptures with stories of historical figures. Zheng Qingzhi 鄭清之 made short comments after Li's annotations. In the book, Li's annotations are called "Zhuan" 傳 and Zheng's annotations are called "zan" 贊.

There is a postface in 太上感應篇 - NLC18 that is not seen in the present edition. Before the main text of this edition, there is an article entitled “ganyingji" 感應記. The first few pages are lost in 太上感應篇 - NLC18, so it is not certain whether the "ganyingji" 感應記 is in 太上感應篇 - NLC18.
