This book, together with the following four, are generally called as《五部六冊》蘭風註解本,which means that they are annotated by Lan Feng 蘭風. This collection is also one edition of 開心法要版. This 苦功悟道卷 is an annotated version of 苦功悟道 by Lan Feng 蘭風 and his disciples.

On the center of each page（版心), the shortened title in this edition is 苦功. This text is a subsection of a larger collection of 金剛般若經註解全集, which can be found on the first page.

The whole collection has been republished several times. Before the main text, there are two prefaces, between the two prefaces and after the last one, there are several lines indicating the dates of publication for different editions: 萬曆嵗在丙申(1596) 孟春, 順治九年 (1652) 壬辰仲春月菩薩誕日,嘉慶柒年 (1802) 夏月,道光二十七年 (1847) 佛誕日. This edition, according to the cover page, was printed in 1894 "光緒二十年”.
