This book tells three stories. The first is how Emperor Wu of Liang 梁武帝 (464 - 549) began to practise. The second is the competition between Buddha Zhigong 志公 and a nun called 長瓜. The third is the story of Liang's wife, Empress Xi 郗. She was punished for her aversion to Buddhism and her mistreatment of Zhigong 志公. Eventually, she was transcended by Zhigong 志公.
